As a result of confidence-building measures as a member of the COP Bureau, Armenia has agreed to host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Axar.az reports that this was said by the representative of the President of Azerbaijan on special tasks, Elchin Amirbeyov, in an interview with the German newspaper "Zeit".

According to him, the exchange of military personnel between the countries is also a positive trend, and it also serves to strengthen the trust between Baku and Yerevan:

"We would like you to pay attention to the agreement with Armenia regarding the COP29 climate conference. We agreed on the exchange of 32 Armenian servicemen with 2 Azerbaijani servicemen. At the same time, Armenia, as a member of the COP Bureau, has agreed that Azerbaijan will host the COP29 climate conference this year. This resulted from confidence measures and shows how it can be done."
