On May 9, 79 years have passed since the historic Victory over fascism.

Axar.az informs that on this occasion, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva twice visited the grave of the Hero of the Soviet Union, Major General of Tank Troops Hazi Aslanov, laid flowers in front of the monument, and paid tribute to all those who died in the war. They honored the memory of the children of Azerbaijan.

It should be noted that the people of Azerbaijan made important contributions to the historical Victory over fascism. Our people, who had a huge share in winning this Victory, sent 600,000 sons and daughters to the front. More than 300,000 of them died heroically in battles. For their bravery during that war, more than 130 representatives of Azerbaijan were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, and more than 170 thousand of our soldiers and officers were awarded with various orders and medals.
