In 2019, the co-chairs of the Minsk Group proposed to Nikol Pashinyan's government to achieve peace by keeping Kalbajar and Lachin within Armenia.
Axar.az reports that this was said by Armenian politician Levon Zurabyan.
According to the politician, Pashinyan rejected all the proposals of the co-chairs 5 years ago:
"In this peace agreement, the settlement of the status of Karabakh was supposed to be kept for future generations, and peacekeepers were to be stationed there in the long term. But Nikol Pashinyan did not accept it. He also did not tell the public that there was such a proposal. At that famous press conference held in Gafan in 2020, he said that there were no documents for discussion on the table.
"We were not ready for a 44-day war, and we are not ready now. The prime minister initially said that Western settlement would be accepted, so he refused to switch to Russia's settlement. But that decision also failed. All his calculations ended in a fiasco. Today we are in a very difficult situation. "Azerbaijan and Turkiye solve the issues in the South Caucasus," Zurabyan said.
