Before the election, Macron's Renaissance Party was represented in the European Parliament by 24 deputies, but now their number has shrank to 13.

Axar.az reports that, French expert Emmanuel Dupuy, President of the Institute for Prospective and Security in Europe (IPSE), discussing the defeat of Macron's Renaissance Party in the European Parliament elections.

Dupuy noted that the ruling Renaissance Party is highly likely to lose its absolute majority in parliament:

"After the defeat in the EP elections, Macron dissolved the parliament, and the first round of elections will be held on June 30. The chances of Macron's party maintaining a parliamentary majority are very slim. He is likely to lose 100-120 seats. In a recent poll, Jordan Bardella's and Marine Le Pen's National Rally Party, along with the Renaissance Party, received 33% of the votes, the United Left received 23%, and MoDem (Democratic Movement and Independents Group) received the remaining votes. Therefore, it is certain that Macron will lose the absolute majority (289 seats) in the upcoming elections. The opposition's number of deputies will likely increase by 88 and exceed 200. Of course, there are various predictions regarding this. Some say this number will be 243, while others say it will be 305."

The French expert Emmanuel Dupuy emphasized that Macron faces a very difficult choice:

"The main issue now is that there is an initial agreement among the conservatives, the Republican Party, liberal-conservatives, and other political groups to form a coalition or approach in some way. However, supporters of the Republican Party are against a coalition with the far-right. Macron will likely have to consider the loss of the Renaissance Party's absolute majority in parliament. According to the constitution, the president is not obliged to nominate a candidate for the prime minister's position. However, I believe that the National Assembly will nominate Jordan Bardella, leader of the National Rally Party, for the prime minister's position, and Macron will be forced to confirm it. So there are two options ahead: the president will either lose all his power or have to shake hands with the far-right conservatives."

It should be noted that there are currently 577 deputies in the National Assembly.
