This aid strengthens Yerevan's military potential - MFA

After the steps taken by France to equip Armenia with Bastion multi-purpose armored vehicles and Caesar self-propelled artillery units, the European Union's decision to send military aid to Armenia is a very wrong and dangerous step and serves to increase tensions in the region. Such activities by the European Union are clearly unilateral and biased, and are a manifestation of the policy of creating "divisive lines" in the region.

Axar.az reports that Aykhan Hajizadeh, press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said this in response to the media's question about military aid to Armenia within the framework of the "European Peace Fund".

"According to the decision adopted by the Council of the European Union on July 22, within the framework of the European Peace Fund, it is planned to provide military aid to Armenia in the amount of 10 million euros. How would you interpret this decision?" A. Hajizadeh answered the question as follows

"The aforementioned military aid to Armenia and calls for increasing such aid in the future will serve to strengthen the military potential of Armenia, which has occupied part of the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan for nearly 30 years, and currently does not give up its claims against our territorial integrity, and its destructive activities in the region.

We strongly object to this decision made by the Council of the European Union, and we expect transparent information about the aid to be provided.

The European Union must put an end to such steps, which contribute to the policy of armament and militarization in the region, and understand that there is no alternative to peace and cooperation in the region. Otherwise, the European Union will share the responsibility for any possible provocation that destabilizes Armenia."
