Today, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan officially became allies.

Axar.az reports that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced this in a statement to the press alongside his Uzbek counterpart, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

"Today, we officially became allies. In fact, I would agree that this is a historic moment. The treaty on allied relations is the highest level of international document that two countries can sign. Today, in Tashkent, we are not just writing a new chapter in our relations but an entire book. Today, two brotherly nations, two independent, strong, sovereign, and influential states became official allies. This is a very important foreign policy step and will determine our relations, as well as regional policies, in the years to come," the President stated.
