"Khankandi is Azerbaijan's territory," Spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova stated during a briefing today.

Axar.az informs that Moscow correspondent reports.

In response to an Armenian journalist's provocative question about alleged mass demolition of residential buildings and quarters from the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Azerbaijan’s Khankandi, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said: “As far as I understand, we are talking about Azerbaijani territories. The laws of that country apply there, first of all. Secondly, if we are talking about cultural monuments, there are international organizations that deal with this, and they can be contacted... UNESCO being one of them. It cooperates with countries in various directions. This question should not be directed at us,” Zakharova stressed.
