US working on 60-day truce to end war in Lebanon

U.S. mediators are crafting a proposal aimed at reducing hostilities between Israel’s military and the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah, starting with a 60-day ceasefire.

Axar.az reports that , citing Reuters, the two-month ceasefire would allow for the complete implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, adopted in 2006 to ensure that southern Lebanon remains free of weapons not held by the Lebanese state.

It should be noted that according to Axios Hochstein and U.S. presidential adviser Brett McGurk are set to arrive in Israel on Thursday to finalize the deal regarding Lebanon.

Hochstein and McGurk are anticipated to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Minister for Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer.
