US asked Lebanon to declare unilateral ceasefire with Isarel

A US envoy this week urged Lebanon to announce a unilateral ceasefire with Israel in an effort to aid negotiations aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict that has lasted over a year.

Axar.az reports that, citing Reuters, this was stated by a senior Lebanese political source and a high-ranking diplomat.

The initiative was conveyed by US Lebanon Envoy Amos Hochstein during a meeting with Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati.
