Azerbaijan monitors Syria, supports stability

Azerbaijan is following the processes that are taking place in Syria.

Axar.az reports that this was stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan (MFA) on the latest situation in Syria.

It was noted that, in this context, consultations are being held with Turkiye at the same time.

"After the collapse of the regime of Bashar al-Assad in Syria, it is absolutely important to restore peace and stability in the country and end the civil conflict.

The Republic of Azerbaijan once again expresses its support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Syria and hopes that the issues will be resolved in accordance with the will of the Syrian people and through internal political dialogue.

The Republic of Azerbaijan, together with the brotherly Republic of Turkiye and other like-minded partners, is ready to contribute to the elimination of the humanitarian problems faced by the Syrian people.

At the same time, despite the fact that the embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan does not exist in Syria, work is underway to determine the number and location of Azerbaijani citizens in Syria. The Republic of Azerbaijan will also continue the repatriation of our citizens from the Syrian Arab Republic to our country through the territory of the Republic of Turkiye starting from 2020.

The Republic of Azerbaijan hopes that bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Syria will be restored after the situation in Syria stabilizes, and cooperation will develop on the basis of the principle of mutual friendship and partnership," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.
