Erdogan appoints Birol Akgun as ambassador to Azerbaijan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has appointed Birol Akgun as Ankara's extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to Azerbaijan.

Axar.az reports that the president's decision was published in the "Official Gazette."

The diplomat is expected to arrive in Baku next month and begin his duties in February.

It should be noted that Birol Akgun previously served as the chairman of the Turkish Maarif Foundation.
