The activities of the Azerbaijani embassy in Syria will be restored as soon as possible.

Axar.az reports that Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said this at a joint press conference held in Baku on January 18 with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan.

He noted that a representative will be sent to Syria at the level of temporary affairs attorney.

J. Bayramov reminded that Azerbaijan has not had any diplomatic activities in Syria since 2012:

"Appropriate steps were taken in this direction immediately after the known events. In a short time, the Azerbaijani delegation visited Syria. Meetings were held there with the Syrian Foreign Minister and other relevant persons. We expressed our intention to restore our diplomatic mission there."
