Arkov: Trump weighs military strikes on Iran

As seen from the recent military campaigns in which the United States participated, Washington tries to minimize the direct involvement of its soldiers and officers.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Russian expert Vitali Arkov while commenting on US-Iran relations following Trump's rise to power.

"American voters expect victories from the White House and Pentagon, as well as the enhancement of their country's grandeur, but not thousands or even hundreds of coffins. Therefore, the US prefers to limit its participation to intelligence, arms supplies, and air and naval missile strikes, attracting new NATO members and those standing at the doorstep of the Alliance, to ensure the supply of 'cannon fodder.' Now, for example, Armenia plays this role, having recently signed a charter with the US, which includes participation in peacekeeping missions under NATO's protection," he said.

According to Arkov, Washington began implementing the "threats" even before Trump officially took office, starting with the Middle East, where Israel and Hamas reduced the intensity of hostilities and began a prisoner exchange.

"It has long been known that Republican Washington have closer relations with Tel Aviv and Riyadh than the Democrats. Both sides have serious claims against Tehran. Therefore, it would be strange to expect a friendship to develop between Washington and Tehran, at least as long as the Iranian mullah regime is in power. Trump and his team understand that the local "Iran campaign" has a high risk of escalating into a full-scale war in the Middle East—essentially, World War III. Russia and China will either directly or indirectly side with Iran, and radical Islamists (not just Shiites!) will carry out revenge terrorism, drowning the cities of the U.S. and its allies in blood.

Against this backdrop, it is difficult to expect Trump to make peace speeches in the spirit of a cartoon hero, saying, "Come on, let's live in peace." Yes, he could say such things, but only after a few missile strikes on facilities in Iran involved in the nuclear weapons program, based on CIA information, and after attacks on military-industrial complex bases and facilities that survived Israeli strikes.

According to information "leaked" from Trump's circle, this possibility is being discussed. If the Iranian government, especially if it does not stop supporting the Houthis in Yemen and Hamas in Palestine with money and weapons, and does not abandon the initiative to re-establish Hezbollah's wing in Lebanon, these "leaks" could become real."
