The 1st round of political consultations was held between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait.
Axar.az was informed about this by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
It was noted that the political consultations were led by Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev from the Azerbaijani side and Deputy Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah from the Kuwaiti side.
During the consultations, a broad exchange of views was held on the current state of bilateral relations in the political, economic, energy, agricultural, tourism, education, humanitarian, and other fields and prospects for their future development.
In addition, the possibilities of expanding cooperation in a multilateral format, especially within international organizations, including the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement, were discussed, and mutual coordination and cooperation within the framework of the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change were highly appreciated.
The parties also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
During the visit, Yalchin Rafiyev met with Khalifa Al-Ajil, Minister of Commerce and Industry of the State of Kuwait, and Sheikh Meshal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority. The meeting discussed preparations for the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission between Azerbaijan and Kuwait, scheduled for April of this year, as well as the organization of mutual trade missions and business forums.
Also, as part of his visit to Kuwait, the Deputy Minister visited the Center for the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies and, together with Ambassador Abdulaziz Abdullatif Al-Sharikh, a member of the Center's board, made a comprehensive presentation on Azerbaijan's foreign policy and regional issues to the Center's management and research staff. The Deputy Minister spoke about the future development prospects of Azerbaijani-Kuwaiti cooperation, informed the audience about our country's foreign policy priorities, views on regional and global issues, as well as the normalization process of the post-conflict Armenia-Azerbaijan period and the restoration and reconstruction work carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
The Deputy Minister also met with Azerbaijani students studying at Kuwait State University and inquired about their educational conditions.
