President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization Asad Majid Khan on March 12.
Axar.az reports that the head of state said that Azerbaijan will host the Economic Cooperation Organization summit this year and noted that Asad Majid Khan's visit to our country created a good opportunity to discuss the issues of preparation for the summit. Emphasizing that Azerbaijan is an active member of the Economic Cooperation Organization, President Ilham Aliyev stated that our country is ready to contribute to deepening cooperation between member states within the organization and advancing the issues on the agenda.
Asad Majid Khan, in turn, said that Azerbaijan is an active member of the Economic Cooperation Organization and noted with satisfaction that our country hosts the organization's sub-structures and constantly supports the implementation of the issues on the agenda. The guest noted that the member states of the organization share historical, cultural, and geographical proximity, common values, and similarities in religion and other areas and noted that there are great opportunities and prospects for developing cooperation within the organization.
Secretary-General Asad Majid Khan emphasized that our country has rich experience in organizing international events, especially the successful holding of COP29, and expressed confidence that the Economic Cooperation Organization summit would be organized by Azerbaijan at a high level.
The guest noted with satisfaction that he would participate in the XII Global Baku Forum as part of his visit and noted that this forum is one of the important platforms for discussing global issues on a global scale.
During the conversation, views were exchanged on the prospects for the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Economic Cooperation Organization.
