Putin has made it clear that a short-term truce poses a high risk of being used by the Kyiv regime to regroup and strengthen its forces before resuming military actions.
Axar.az reports Russian expert on international conflicts Vitaly Arkov stated this while discussing Ukraine's agreement to a 30-day ceasefire.
"The Ukrainian delegation itself brought the initiative for a 30-day ceasefire to Saudi Arabia. The American side, after consulting with the White House, supported it, as they wanted to present it as the first real achievement in the conflict resolution process launched by Trump. The idea is that Trump pressured Zelensky, and he started agreeing to the White House’s demands. Against the backdrop of a short-term freeze in active hostilities, it will be easier to discuss a full-scale peace.
Considering that lately Kyiv has been following directives not from Washington but rather from London and Paris, I wouldn’t rule out their involvement in this political maneuver. They are counting on Moscow rejecting Kyiv’s initiative. This would, first, put Trump in a foolish position again in less than a month (the first time being his spat with Zelensky at the White House). And second, it is meant to turn him against Putin, derail their personal meeting, and prevent the signing of a historic deal. If this is indeed the case, then, as they say in Russia, ‘the British are up to their tricks again.’
But despite all this, I am confident that two wise men and the greatest politicians of our time will not allow European schemers and their Ukrainian puppet to trap them. Together, they will continue working toward their goals," the expert stated.
