A government mission led by Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev paid a visit to Guinea-Bissau to expand bilateral political, economic, humanitarian, and other cooperation between Azerbaijan and Guinea-Bissau, as well as to continue high-level cooperation relations within international organizations.

It was noted that during the visit, the delegation was received by the President of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embalo.
Meetings were also held with Prime Minister Rui Duarte Barros and Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Communities, Carlos Pinto Pereira.
During the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation held a wide-ranging meeting with the delegation led by the Minister of Economy, Planning, and Regional Integration of Guinea-Bissau, Soares Sambu. The meeting was attended by the heads of the country's environmental and biodiversity, natural resources, agriculture, defense agencies,s and the Petroguin oil company.
During the meetings, it was noted that contacts between our countries have intensified in recent years and that this plays a useful role in discussing cooperation prospects. It was also emphasized that there is potential for the development of cooperation in several areas, including oil and gas, green energy, agriculture, fisheries, humanitarian and education, and the importance of creating a bilateral legal and contractual framework in relevant areas.
Within the framework of the visit, the first meeting of political consultations was held between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Communities of Guinea-Bissau. The political consultations were chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yalchin Rafiyev from Azerbaijan and by Secretary of State for International Cooperation Fatumata Jau from Guinea-Bissau.
During the political consultations, bilateral political and economic issues, cooperation within the framework of the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement, the OIC, and other international organizations were discussed.
The government mission includes representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defense, Defense Industry, Economy, Agriculture, the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Investment Promotion Fund, and "Azergold" CJSC.
