Axar.az reports, citing APА, during the visit, Kavelashvili is scheduled to hold meetings with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister Ali Asadov, and Speaker of the Parliament, Sahiba Gafarova.

According to Zurab Pataradze, Georgia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan, the meetings will focus on bilateral cooperation and regional security issues.

"Mr. President’s first foreign visit begins with the Republic of Azerbaijan. As you know, Azerbaijan is Georgia’s strategic partner and a friendly country. It is very important that the first visit is to Azerbaijan. Within the framework of the visit, high-level meetings will be held with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev. Meetings will also be held with the Prime Minister and on a number of key bilateral cooperation issues. The economic projects currently being implemented between the countries will be discussed. I would especially like to highlight renewable energy matters and several mega projects being carried out between our countries,” Pataradze said.
