Azerbaijan has prepared for potential scenarios involving sanctioned neighbors.

Axar.az reports that Azerbaijani Presidential aide and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, Hikmet Hajiyev, spoke during the panel titled “Middle Corridor: A New Geopolitical and Economic Strategic Passage?” at the GLOBSEC 2025 forum.

He noted that Azerbaijan is surrounded by major crises — on one side the Russia-Ukraine war, and the other the Israel-Iran military confrontation:

“We anticipated this and have, to some extent, prepared ourselves for potential ‘tsunamis’ coming from the Middle East, as well as various scenarios involving our sanctioned neighbors.”
