Legendary tenor Plácido Domingo performed on November 14 at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku.

Axar.az reports that, Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, attended the concert.

Alongside Plácido Domingo, performers included his son Plácido Domingo Jr., People’s Artist Yusif Eyvazov, Honored Artist Afaq Abbasova, and Swiss opera singer Daria Rybak.

The Uzeyir Hajibeyli State Symphony Orchestra performed under the direction of renowned Italian conductor Francesco Ivan Ciampa.

The evening featured compositions by world classical masters such as G. Puccini, G. Verdi, and P. Mascagni.

In a special moment, Plácido Domingo surprised the Azerbaijani audience by performing the folk song “Küçələrə su səpmişəm” together with the other performers.

This is not the first time Plácido Domingo has honored Azerbaijani composers. In 2010, he performed Tofiq Quliyev’s song “Sənə də qalmaz” during a ceremony marking the 87th anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
