Sima Safarova, a rescuer of the Special Risk Rescue Service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), carried out a technical ascent to Aconcagua (6,962 m), the highest peak in South America, at the initiative of the Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation.
Axar.az reports having successfully reached the target, Safarova waved the flag bearing the emblem of the Ministry of Emergency Situations along with the national flag of Azerbaijan at the summit of Aconcagua.
Aconcagua's 6,961 meters (22.840 ft) above sea level make it the highest point in the Western and Southern hemispheres. It is part of the majestic Andes mountain range, and one of the legendary Seven Summits (the highest mountains in each of the 7 continents).
