Heavy rain and snow are expected in Istanbul

The Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has warned that the weather conditions in Istanbul and the Marmara region in general will change sharply.

Axar.az reports that the temperature will drop below 5 degrees Celsius from February 2, and heavy rain and storms are expected in the region.

It was noted that the current weather conditions may continue until February 4:

“In the Marmara region, especially in Istanbul, intermittent rains are expected from today, and in some places, heavy rains accompanied by storms are expected. It is predicted that the temperature will drop sharply with the cold air mass that will enter the region from Monday. It is expected that the precipitation will turn into sleet and snow, especially in the western districts such as Silivri, Çatalca, Arnavutköy, Buyukcekmec,e and Bashakshehir.”

The Istanbul Governorship also shared the 4-day weather forecast of the General Directorate of Meteorology on its social media account, stating that the temperature will drop from Sunday.

Citizens are advised to be cautious against possible complications.
