Khojaly survivor reunites with man who saved her life -

A woman from Khojaly has reunited with the man who saved her life decades ago.

Axar.az informs that Nigar Jafarova met former fighter Allahverdi Azimov, who rescued her during the Khojaly Massacre in February 1992.

The meeting took place during Novruz celebrations in the recently liberated village of Saybali n the Aghdam district. Jafarova said that on the tragic night 34 years ago, when she had lost all hope of survival, Azimov saved her life. She described the reunion as deeply meaningful and a chance to personally thank the man who saved her.

Azimov said recalling those days is still painful, adding that saving civilians was simply his duty as a human being.

During the meeting, Jafarova introduced her rescuer to her family, and the moment was captured in commemorative photos.

The Khojaly Genocide on February 26, 1992, remains one of the darkest chapters in Azerbaijan’s history.
