Over 4,000 Azerbaijanis remain missing from Karabakh wars

The number of Azerbaijani citizens missing as a result of Armenia’s military aggression has been updated.

Axar.az reports, according to the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons, that 4,005 people are officially registered as missing as a result of Armenia’s aggression against Azerbaijan.

Of these, 3,999 went missing during the First Karabakh War, while 6 others are listed as missing from the Second Karabakh War and the post-war period.

Among those missing from the First Karabakh War, 3,218 were military personnel and 781 were civilians, including 71 children, 287 women, and 334 elderly people. In total, 3,711 of the missing are men and 288 are women.

It was also noted that the identities of 220 missing persons from the First Karabakh War—considered missing martyrs—have been identified, and their remains have been returned to their families for burial.
