Azerbaijan celebrates Eid al-Adha today

Eid al-Adha is being celebrated in Azerbaijan today.

Axar.az reports that Eid al-Adha begins every year across the Muslim world on the 10th day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah according to the Hijri calendar.

This year, the corresponding date falls on May 27 in the Gregorian calendar.

Holiday prayers will be performed in all mosques across the country today.

The Eid prayer is scheduled for 08:00 at the Ajdarbey Mosque and 09:00 at the Taza Pir Mosque in Baku.

In connection with the holiday, animal sacrifices may be carried out today and tomorrow. Sacrifices will be performed in specially designated locations allocated by the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency in Baku, surrounding areas, and the regions of the country, in accordance with Sharia rules and under the supervision of clerics from the Caucasus Muslim Board.

After Azerbaijan restored its independence, Eid al-Adha began to be celebrated at the state level in accordance with the Law “On Holidays of the Republic of Azerbaijan,” adopted by the Milli Majlis on October 27, 1992.

According to a decision by the Cabinet of Ministers, May 27 and 28 have been designated as Eid al-Adha holidays this year.
