Embassy comments on Nizami bust incident

As previously reported, an act of disrespect was committed against the bust of renowned Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi, located at the intersection of Nariman Narimanov and Nizami Ganjavi streets in Georgia’s Marneuli district.

Axar.az reports that the Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia said the matter is under its attention.

“We are in contact with the relevant local authorities. According to preliminary information, the individual responsible for the incident is an ethnic Azerbaijani who has certain mental impairments and is known to suffer from alcohol addiction. The police have conducted an examination. The public will be informed once the legal procedures are completed,” the statement said.
