Neanderthal remains from Taghlar under analysis in Japan

"The Neanderthal human remains discovered in Taghlar Cave are currently in the analysis stage in Japan," President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Academician Isa Habibbeyli, said at the opening ceremony of the 2026 archaeological and anthropological field research season of the ANAS.

Axar.az informs, citing APА, he stated that research is currently being conducted on the remains: "We are awaiting the results of the analysis from Japan. We will provide the global scientific community with comprehensive information about the results. The findings of the analysis are expected to be announced this year. This discovery is one of the most important achievements of archaeological excavations. After the discovery of the human jawbone remains, this will be the greatest contribution to archaeological science in more than half a century."
