Earthquake felt in northwestern Azerbaijan

An earthquake has just struck northwestern Azerbaijan.

Axar.az reports that the tremor was felt in several districts, including Oghuz and Aghdash.

A smartphone alert indicated that the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.1.

An earthquake has been recorded in Azerbaijan's Gabala district.

The information was released by the Earthquake Research Bureau operating under the Republican Seismological Service Center.

According to the report, the earthquake occurred 11 kilometers southwest of the Gabala seismic station, within the territory of the Gabala district.

The agency said the tremor was felt at an intensity of up to 5 points at the epicenter and between 3 and 5 points in nearby populated areas.

No reports of damage or casualties resulting from the earthquake have been received by the Ministry of Emergency Situations so far.
