Summer season begins in Azerbaijan

Summer begun in Azerbaijan at 12:24 on June 21.

Axar.az informs that astronomical summer has started in the Northern Hemisphere, while winter has begun in the Southern Hemisphere. During the solstice, the angle between the Earth’s axis and the Sun’s rays reaches its minimum.

As a result, the Sun appears at its highest point in the sky over the course of the year. In Baku, at midday today, it reached its maximum elevation above the horizon at 73.1°.

Today marks the longest day and the shortest night of the year. Daylight lasts 15 hours, 3 minutes, and 24 seconds, while the night lasts 8 hours, 56 minutes, and 36 seconds. The summer season will continue for 93 days, 15 hours, 40 minutes, and 42 seconds.
