Today marks the sixth anniversary of the death of Azerbaijan's National Hero, Major General Polad Hashimov, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the 3rd Army Corps.

Axar.az reports that National Hero and Colonel Ilgar Mirzayev was also killed on the same day, July 14, 2020.

Major General Hashimov was killed on the front line during fighting in the Tovuz district on the morning of July 14, 2020, while alongside the soldiers under his command. During the clashes, which lasted for nearly a week, Colonel Ilgar Mirzayev, Major Namig Ahmadov, Major Anar Novruzov, Senior Lieutenant Rashad Mahmudov, Warrant Officer Ilgar Zeynalli, Warrant Officer Yashar Babayev, contract servicemen Elchin Mustafazadeh, Vugar Sadiqov and Nazim Ismayilov, Senior Soldier Elshad Mammadov, and Soldier Khayyam Dashtamirov were also killed.

Polad Hashimov and Ilgar Mirzayev were laid to rest at the Second Alley of Honor in Baku.
