A mine explosion has occurred in the Khojavand district in Azerbaijan.
Axar.az reports that the press services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) issued a statement.
A mine explosion occurred on August 12, 2026, in the area of Gizilgaya village in the liberated Khojavand district.
A bulldozer driven by Elchin Telman oglu Abbasov, born in 1961 and a resident of Gazakh district, struck a mine in an area that had not yet been cleared of mines. Two residents of Tovuz district, Sanan Sohrab oglu Farajov, born in 1989, and Fuad Ilgar oglu Ahmadov, born in 2003, were injured in the incident.
An investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Khojavand District Prosecutor’s Office.
ANAMA, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General’s Office once again urge citizens to comply with safety rules, pay close attention to mine hazard warning signs, avoid touching suspicious objects, refrain from entering unfamiliar areas, and not interfere with areas where fencing activities are being carried out.

Two men injured in an explosion in the Khojavand district were admitted to the Fuzuli District Central Hospital at around 6:30 p.m.
According to TABIB, the state agency responsible for managing medical institutions, one of the injured, born in 1989, was diagnosed with open wounds in various areas of the face and eye, while the other, born in 2003, sustained abrasions to the abdominal area.
After receiving the necessary medical care, both patients were discharged for outpatient treatment at home.
