Karabakh, Romania's Maramures agree on cooperation -

Azerbaijan's Karabakh region and Romania's Maramures region have agreed to establish broad cooperation across various fields.

Axar.az informs, citing Repоrt, that according to the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Romania, the agreement was reached during meetings held by a delegation led by Elchin Yusubov, Azerbaijan's presidential special representative for Khankendi city and the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, during an official visit to Romania.

The delegation met with Baia Mare Mayor Ioan Doru Dancus to discuss establishing and developing ties between Baia Mare and Khankendi, implementing joint projects, exchanging experience and pursuing other mutually beneficial initiatives.

Dancus proposed identifying specific areas for developing ties with Azerbaijan, including Karabakh, establishing partnerships with Azerbaijani companies and exploring mutual investment opportunities. He also expressed interest in cooperation with Karabakh in the cultural, humanitarian and sports fields.

Yusubov highlighted similarities between Khankendi and Baia Mare, including their geographical location, natural landscapes and cultural heritage. He also briefed the Romanian side on Khankendi's history and ongoing construction, development and infrastructure projects across Karabakh.

The sides agreed to sign a twinning agreement between Baia Mare and Khankendi. Yusubov also invited Romanian representatives to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan, particularly Karabakh.

During another meeting, the Azerbaijani delegation met with Gabriel-Valer Zetea, head of Romania's Maramures region. The sides discussed expanding cooperation between Karabakh and Maramures, particularly in the economic and investment sectors.

They also discussed holding Days of the Regions in Karabakh and Maramures and organizing a business forum bringing together entrepreneurs from both regions.

Zetea accepted the invitation to visit Karabakh and expressed strong interest in the participation of Azerbaijani investors in projects in Maramures.

Yusubov emphasized the importance of developing mutually beneficial cooperation between Azerbaijan and European countries, particularly Romania, with which Azerbaijan has strategic partnership relations.
