Karabakh University, Istanbul Technical University to cooperate

Azerbaijan and Turkiye have taken another important step towards expanding cooperation in the field of higher education.

Axar.az reports, citing the Ministry of Science and Education, that Karabakh University and Istanbul Technical University (ITU) plan to organize teaching, training and research activities in the field of engineering, as well as establish the relevant educational infrastructure.

It was noted that in this regard, President of the Republic of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed Decision No. 11647 dated August 27, 2026, “On the Opening of Academic Units under Karabakh University of the Republic of Azerbaijan Affiliated with the Rectorate of Istanbul Technical University.”

“Combining ITU’s extensive academic and scientific potential in the field of engineering with that of Karabakh University will create opportunities to expand modern teaching and research capabilities, train highly qualified engineering specialists and develop joint scientific activities.

The cooperation envisages the establishment of dual degree programs, exchanges of students and academic staff, implementation of joint research projects and creation of infrastructure in the field of engineering.

It should be noted that this initiative is another important example of further strengthening Azerbaijan-Turkiye brotherhood through institutional cooperation in science and higher education and directing the academic and scientific potential of the two countries towards the reconstruction and future development of Karabakh,” the statement said.
