The remains of 267 people who went missing during the First Karabakh War have so far been handed over to their families.

Axar.az reports that the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons provided the information.

A total of 85 people whose remains were handed over to their families have been buried this year. Of them, 21 were buried in August and 64 between January and August of this year.

To date, human remains belonging to 910 people have been discovered and exhumed. Of these, five were found in August and 79 between January and August this year.

The identities of 328 missing persons have been established through DNA testing and forensic methods, including 57 identified during the first eight months of this year.

Meanwhile, 32 mass graves have so far been discovered during investigations carried out in the liberated territories.

The statement also noted that 4,010 Azerbaijani citizens are registered as missing as a result of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict.
