Mine blast in Aghdam – Authorities report

A mine explosion occurred on September 5 in the area of Chamanli Sarijali village in Azerbaijan’s liberated Aghdam district.

Axar.az reports that the information was released by the press services of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, Prosecutor General’s Office and Mine Action Agency (ANAMA).

According to the report, a tractor driven by Elmdar Sariyev, born in 1972 and a resident of Shotlanli village in the Aghjabadi district, hit a mine in an area that had not yet been cleared of mines. Sarıyev was injured in the incident.

An investigation into the incident is underway at the Aghdam District Prosecutor’s Office.

ANAMA, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General’s Office once again urged citizens to follow safety rules, pay close attention to mine hazard signs, avoid touching suspicious objects, stay out of unfamiliar areas and refrain from entering areas where fencing work is underway.
