Man injured after horse steps on mine in Aghdara

On September 10, a resident of Tartar district was injured in a mine explosion in the village of Papravend, in the liberated Aghdara district.

Axar.az reports that the incident was confirmed by the press services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General's Office, and the Mine Action Agency (ANAMA).

The victim, Sarkhan Rustamzade, born in 2005, had been riding a horse through an area that had not yet been cleared of mines when the horse struck an anti-personnel landmine.

He suffered only minor injuries. ANAMA personnel evacuated him from the hazardous area.

The Tartar district prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into the incident.

Officials are once again urging residents to follow safety guidelines — paying close attention to mine-hazard signage, avoiding suspicious objects, staying out of unfamiliar terrain, and not entering areas where demining or fencing operations are in progress.
