Passenger traffic and flight activity are expected to increase at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in connection with the 2026 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku.

Axar.az reports that it will operate in an enhanced mode from September 19 to 27 to efficiently manage increased passenger traffic, ensure uninterrupted operations and organize services promptly. The work of relevant departments will be strengthened during this period to ensure passenger comfort and continuity of services.

The main race program of the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix will take place from September 24 to 26. Given the expected increase in traffic and possible movement restrictions in the capital during race week, passengers are advised to plan their trips to the airport in advance and allow sufficient extra time for their flights.

The following recommendations have been issued to passengers:

- Arrive at the airport early: Allow extra time to complete check-in, baggage drop-off and security procedures.

- Use online check-in and self-service facilities: Where available, passengers can use online check-in, self-check-in and baggage drop-off services to speed up the check-in process.

- Check flight information in advance: Verify the flight status and departure terminal through the electronic ticket, the airline’s official website and other official channels.

- Use public transport: Passengers can use the Aeroexpress public transport service operating between the “28 May” metro station and the airport as an alternative to private vehicles.

- Follow parking rules: Vehicles should be parked only in designated parking areas, while special drop-off and pick-up zones should be used for passenger drop-offs and collections. The first 15 minutes of parking are free. Parking fees can be paid online through the Tezödə, AzParking and Birbank platforms.

- Request special assistance in advance: Passengers requiring special assistance are advised to contact their airline at least 48 hours before their flight so that the necessary services can be arranged in a timely manner.

Heydar Aliyev International Airport will take the necessary measures during the Formula 1 period to safely and efficiently manage increased passenger and flight activity, ensure uninterrupted services and provide passengers with a comfortable travel experience.
