Azerbaijan has reduced the initial contract term for women entering active military service from three years to six months.

Axar.az reports that Prime Minister Ali Asadov signed a decision amending the rules governing entry into active military service under contract.

Under the previous rules, the initial contract term was set at three years for those entering service, including reservists and women.

Under the new decision, the initial contract term for women has been reduced to six months, while the three-year term remains in place for reservists and those entering service under other circumstances.
