On October 5, 2026, the vessel “Royad Mammadov,” operated by the Palmali Group of Companies, came under a drone attack in the Black Sea near the coast of Romania while sailing from Ukraine’s Izmail port to Italy’s Ravenna port.

Axar.az reports that the Palmali Group of Companies said the attack caused a fire on board, prompting rescue operations to evacuate the crew.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of two of our seafarers in this tragic incident. The remaining crew members were safely evacuated and taken to a secure location.

We pray for the souls of the seafarers who lost their lives and extend our condolences to their families and loved ones, wishing them strength and patience. As the Palmali Group of Companies, we stand with the families of the deceased seafarers. All necessary support is being provided, and every effort is being made to meet their needs.

The situation is being closely monitored in coordination with the relevant authorities,” the statement said.
