Six years since third missile strike on Ganja

Six years have passed since Ganja was hit by a third missile strike by the Armenian Armed Forces during the Second Karabakh War.

Axar.az recalls that Azerbaijan’s second-largest city came under attack again in the early hours of October 8, 2020.

Unlike the previous two attacks, this was the first time Ganja was targeted by a missile strike at night. No one was killed or injured, but homes and vehicles sustained significant damage.

The Armenian Armed Forces attacked Ganja a total of five times during the Second Karabakh War — on October 4, 5, 8, 11 and 17 — using missiles and heavy artillery. The attacks killed 26 people and injured 175 others, while causing extensive damage to civilian infrastructure and vehicles in the city.

Overall, 93 civilians, including 12 children and 27 women, were killed and 454 injured as a result of Armenia’s military aggression during the Second Karabakh War. A total of 12,292 residential and non-residential properties and 288 vehicles were damaged, while 1,018 farms were also affected.
