Candidates for the position of Azerbaijan's Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) have been selected.

Axar.az reports that the issue was discussed at today's meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Human Rights.

It was noted that President Ilham Aliyev has nominated Sabina Yashar gizi Aliyeva, Jeyhun Yasinali oglu Garajayev and Elshana Rafig gizi Valiyeva for the position.

The candidates also attended the meeting. The female candidates were present in person, while Jeyhun Garajayev joined online as he is currently abroad.

It should be noted that Sabina Aliyeva is currently Azerbaijan's Human Rights Commissioner. Jeyhun Garajayev is a judge at the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan and holds a Doctor of Law degree. Elshana Valiyeva is a judge at the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan and a member of the Judicial Selection Committee.
