Azerbaijan turns South Caucasus into Cooperation Space

Azerbaijan has transformed South Caucasus from “The Battle Space” of big powers to “A Marketplace” or “Cooperation Space”of every party, Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, said in an interview with Jeffrey Sachs.

Axar.az reports that Hajiyev noted that Azerbaijan had spent 34 of its 35 years of independence at war but was now working to establish a green energy corridor linking the Caspian Sea to Europe.

In the interview, Hajiyev also discussed the peace process with Armenia, the Caspian Sea's estimated 800 gigawatts of untapped wind energy potential, and Azerbaijan's role in COP29.

He also reflected on the origins of his surname, which combines Arabic and Russian linguistic elements and, as he put it, represents a dialogue between civilizations.

During the conversation, Professor Sachs discussed the Pope's encyclical on peace and artificial intelligence.
