Erdogan confirms plans to visit Azerbaijan on November 8

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has commented on his planned visit to Azerbaijan.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that Erdogan made the statement while answering journalists' questions aboard the plane on his return from a visit to South Korea.

“November 8 is Victory Day in Azerbaijan. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, I plan to visit Azerbaijan on that day. I hope this visit will create an opportunity to take the necessary steps.

I have already held phone talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. In addition, I have sent both the head of the National Intelligence Organization and the foreign minister to Azerbaijan. Furthermore, active ‘telephone diplomacy’ is continuing both between Mr. Aliyev and me and between our wives. They attach great importance to November 8 – Victory Day.

As I have always said, our relations with Azerbaijan go far beyond ordinary diplomatic ties. The unbreakable bond between our peoples is a product of our shared history, culture and destiny, as well as, God willing, our shared future. With God's help, there is no obstacle that the brotherhood between Turkiye and Azerbaijan cannot overcome,” Erdogan added.
