President Ilham Aliyev has issued a decree pardoning a number of convicts.

Considering the amnesty appeals of convicts over 65 years of age and their families to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in connection with the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection in the world, taking into account the health status of convicts and their behavior during their imprisonment, based on the principles of humanism, guided by paragraph 10 of Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President decided that those convicts sentenced to deprivation of liberty shall be released from the unserved part of the sentence.
