COVID-19 cases surpass 280,000 in Saudi Arabia

More than 1,200 people were diagnosed with COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia in the last 24 hours, which brings the total cases to over 280,000, official data revealed on Monday.

Axar.az reports citing foreign media.

According to the Health Ministry, 1,258 more infections were registered in the past day and the total number of cases rose to 280,093.

The death toll from coronavirus has reached 2,949, with 32 additional fatalities, while 242,053 patients have recovered so far.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed more than 690,600 lives in 188 countries and regions since it originated in China last December. The US, Brazil, India, and Russia are currently the worst-hit countries in the world.

More than 18.14 million COVID-19 cases have been reported worldwide, with recoveries exceeding 10.75 million, according to figures compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.
