In 2020, the world community will face the most serious health crisis in modern history. More than 60 million infections have been reported worldwide and more than 1 million people have died. This crisis, which has led to many complications in the health, social, economic, and financial spheres, has caused great damage to societies, economies, global trade, and travel, and has had a devastating effect on people's lives.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from President of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement Ilham Aliyev during a special session of the UN General Assembly in New York on December 3 dedicated to the fight against coronavirus - COVID-19.

In order to contribute to global efforts to address the unprecedented universal consequences of the pandemic and to provide prompt, adequate and comprehensive assistance to Non-Aligned Movement member states, the Non-Aligned Movement's Online Contact Group against COVID-19 was established on 4 May 2020. Organized a summit. "As a practical result of this meeting, the member states of the Movement decided to establish a working group to combat COVID-19 and create a database on the basic humanitarian, medical needs and requirements of the Non-Aligned Movement member states on coronavirus," he said.
