Amenians destroy 1,500 hectares of forests in Zangilan

As part of their trip to Azerbaijan’s Zangilan district, liberated from the Armenian occupation, local media representatives were briefed on the damage inflicted by Armenians on the district’s nature and environment.

Axar.az reports that the trip was organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.

Speaking to journalists, Arzu Samadova, a ministry official, said the Arazboyu State Nature Reserve in the district covers an area of 2,200 square meters.

“The reserve was established a few months before the occupation of Zangilan with the aim of protecting Tugay forests along the Araz River. Unfortunately, the course of the Araz River was changed by Armenians. Up to 1,500 hectares of Tugay forests were destroyed in this area,” she added.
