President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili.

Axar.az reports that letter reads:

"Dear Mrs. President,

On behalf of myself and the people of Azerbaijan, I cordially congratulate you and the friendly people of Georgia on the occasion of May 26 - Independence Day, and convey my best wishes.

Azerbaijani-Georgian relations stem from the will of our peoples, who have lived in good neighborliness and friendship for centuries. It is especially gratifying that the scope of our interstate relations, which are developing on such solid foundations and based on rich traditions, is constantly expanding and today has the character of a strategic partnership.

I am confident that we will continue our consistent efforts to strengthen relations between our countries and deepen our mutually beneficial cooperation.

On this auspicious day, I wish you good health, success in your work and peace and prosperity to friendly Georgia.
