Azerbaijani Defense Minister Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov has met a delegation led by EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Toivo Klaar.
Axar.az reports that according to the Defense Ministry, the Minister informed about the work done by our Army in the liberated territories after the Patriotic War, which ended with the glorious victory of the Azerbaijani Army under the command of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev.
Speaking about the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and in the territory of Azerbaijan, where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed, the Minister said that the Azerbaijani Army fully complies with the requirements of the tripartite statement. It was stressed that provocations committed by illegal Armenian armed groups in the territory of Azerbaijan, where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed, have been prevented and appropriate measures will be taken against such cases that may occur in the future.
Noting that the Armenian side's attempts to aggravate the situation are unacceptable, the minister stressed the need for the international community to give a proper assessment to this issue and take appropriate steps.
Klaar said the European Union was ready to provide relevant support to ensure peace in the region.
The post-war conditions and a number of other issues were also discussed at the meeting.
