Against the background of the forthcoming trilateral meeting with the participation of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia in Sochi, the press conference to be held today by Nicole Pashinyan on her Facebook account seems extremely interesting for Armenian users.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Russian military expert, editor-in-chief of the magazine "National Defense" Igor Korotchenko.

According to him, Pashinyan will have to explain to the Armenian society the inevitability of these decisions, given the clear position of the Kremlin, which insists on the practical implementation of Yerevan's obligations under the trilateral statement (first of all, the launch of the Zangazur transport corridor, including the delimitation and demarcation of the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia). This, of course, could lead to further attacks by the opposition against the current Prime Minister of Armenia:

"That is why Pashinyan will have to sweeten the" bitter pill "that he will present to the Armenian society tonight, as well as find the most convincing arguments in favor of the inevitability of progress in resolving the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict."

Korotchenko said that the large-scale campaign launched in recent months by the Armenian lobby in the Russian media to exaggerate the threat of the resurrection of the Great Turan and demonize Turkey did not yield any real results:

"The fact is that all the main decisions on relations with Ankara are made personally by Vladimir Putin, and the efforts of the Armenian lobby only make you smile. The best example here is Dmitry Peskov's calm ironic response to the question of whether the Kremlin has seen the map of ancient Turkic lands presented to Erdogan (by MHP chairman Devlet Bahceli - ed.)."

According to the Russian political scientist, today Putin is simultaneously holding several sessions of a geopolitical chess game against the West, the purpose of which is to ensure Russia's winning position in the XXI century. And in this game, Armenia today is not an elephant or a ball, as in chess, but a pawn - a "pawn":

"I do not want to offend anyone with the above comparison, but it is simply an expression of the existing realities. In previous decades, Russia has invested billions of dollars in Armenia and strengthened it as the most important military power in the South Caucasus. The realities of the 44-day war have shown that such expectations are not entirely justified - Russian money and Russian efforts have been in vain.

Therefore, in the new session of the Kremlin's geopolitical game, Armenia today has a sad place (within its internationally recognized borders) and nothing else. As the famous proverb says, stretch your legs under the blanket. It was necessary to win the Second Karabakh War, but if you lost, then you will play the role of an infantry moving only on the e2 - e4 route. And nothing else. But under the auspices and on the side of the Russian Federation."
